Belated Birthday Party

Porter turned 9 last week and we are finally having a birthday party.   He wanted to wait a few days after school started to make a few freinds so he could invite them to the party.  He also wanted to go to Bounce U which I didn't want to pay for a bunch of friends so he was torn.  He finally decided to just have the brothers go to Bounce U with him and have the friends over to the house for an activity and cake. The quick decision left me little time to get as carried away with the party as I usually do.  But the birthday boy was all smiles so I guess my job was a success.

Bounce U
On this inflatable you tried to get the flag as high as you can.  Kade liked this one because he could get it the highest., Which was one down from the top.

They all liked the Spider Climb the best.  It is a tower of straps that the climb their way to the top.  Kade had a harder time than his brothers because he is so much bigger, I don't think it is designed to 5ft 120lb kids, so he had to work a little harder, but they all made it to the top many times.

I took a ton of pictures and there were so many of straps in the way this is the only few that turned out.   This is Kade trying to get off the second row.
Porter almost to the top.

They had a  bunch of other inflatables.  These were just a few.

Porter wanted me to take a picture of him in this Tornado booth and make it look like he was flying.   He approved of my skills.

Very fitting.  This is my favorite.  This is what I want at my house.  The gloves weigh a ton.  They could barley hold them up.   And they couldn't help but laugh as they tried to hit each other because they usually were the ones who feel on their buts.

Party
Once we were home Porter patiently waited for his friend to arrive.

This is Porter's first friend at school.  Her name is Rain.  She gave him a Bayblade. The other friend he invited could not come.  But we had a good time anyway.
His family gave him a Creeper.  The balloons are tied to a Creeper (gift bag).  A Creeper is a character that  is in the computer game called Mine Craft that the kids like to play.  Anyway Creepers explode when it is next to you.  So to get his presents  the Creeper had to explode(pop the balloons).  Inside was money.  It worked just like I hoped it would, the money went flying just like in an explosion.

Next we showed Rain what Mine Craft is by watching one of Porter's favorite You Tube Mine Craft music video.
Since Mine Craft is about creating, we made some Mine Craft items out of Perler Beads.  They were all excited for this, thank goodness because without a lot of time this was the best I could come up with.

The finished products.  They all have a list of the things they want to make.  They could have done that all night, and being a mean mom on a school night I made them stop.

Last but not least a Creeper cake. Porter was amazed.    He stood and looked at it for a good three minutes.    I love that kid.   He gets so happy and thoughtful if someone does anything for him.

We did have a little something while visiting Grandma Fox.

He is now a Bear in his Scouting program.  This is the face paint he received during his advancement ceremony.

Time to teach them.

I was upstairs getting ready for the day.  It was Labor day and the family was in no hurry to do anything.  I came downstairs to see Ben teaching Mason the art of playing domino's.  Ben and I had a mean competition the night before and Mason wanted to learn.  All I could think was, how fun it would be to have a family game night and be able to play dominoes with them.  Maybe in a few years be able to teach them Domino Pitch.  That would be a good time.

Finally some neighborhood friends.

The kids have been doing good playing together since we moved but I was a little worried about the lack of neighbor friends.  We came from a neighborhood where the neighbor kids lived at our house.  Just like I thought, once school started the kids were able to meet other kids in the neighborhood.  It was just to hot to hang out outside and way to easy to stay inside where it was cool.  Also most of them were on vacations till just before school started.  And guess what, they like scooters and bikes.  We have even introduced them to mine craft.  Kade even tried to teach them to ride a rip stick.  That was quite entertaining.  Kade obviously has excellent "Moves" skills because those kids could NOT get it.  He credits that to why he did so good in football, because of his excelent "Moves".  (He's probably right.)

Starting School

We are starting a new school year in a new city.  Kade is in 8th grade.  Mason is in 6th grade.  They are going to Thurman White Middle School.  Porter is in 4th grade at Hariett Treem Elementary School.  They are pretty excited.  We had checked out the schools and they seemed good.  Mason has a top locker and Kade has a bottom locker.  This will be Mason's first year having more than one class.  We live close enough to school that they can walk or ride their bike.  They are excited to be able to do that.

I can make one if those.

I can make one of those, Mason said after finding out the double headphone jack was with dad at his shop.  We have a mission. Kade and him dug out old cellphones for the female  plugs  and old earphones for the wires and the male plug and proceeded with the process.  Those little wires were about the death of Mason.  He couldn't find anything small enough to use as wire nuts.  So that was about 7:30 at night and if you know Mason he likes to finish a project, they were up later than I liked when I finally threatened them enough they stopped and went to bed.   The next day he did manage to get it.  Amazing WHAT those two kids can accomplish, and even together. Wow!  All so they could watch Netflix together.  Good boys.

Togetherness it brings out my ....

Bowling seemed like a fun time so off we went to meet some friends at the bowling alley. The players could choose whether to have bumpers on their turn it not.  Some choose to others did not, some should have. So after the realization that the ones with the bumpers were kicking butt, but to full of stubbornness of and the embarrassment which their own brains dished out, the second game was that if fire and ice.  Flames of anger for how well the others were doing, and ice from the embarrassment of the flames.  Needless to say we had a new lesson today.

The adults had a good time.  I know that can still bowl, although I will take my wrist gaurd next time.  Thanks Dee and boys.

Rec Center

We visited the rec center that is just up the road.  It was a fun pool it has two slides. The kids are in heaven.  Its cheaper than the pools in St. George, which mom likes.
We had some friends with us, Ronan and Drake.  They spent the day with us.  It was lots of fun.

Airplanes

The airplanes fly right over our house, so we took a trip to watch them land.  We watched some big planes land. Mason has now changed his career path from pro motorcycle rider to pilot.
